You guys. James and Clara are the frikkin best. They’re way cooler than we’ll ever be and their love is inspiring. These KC kids are living it up in New York and we were so stoked when the stars aligned for us to shoot their Brooklyn engagement session in their own neighborhood. We only had a very small window to shoot with these two in New York before heading on to another job in DC. We were so excited and had so many great locations in mind! Thennnn the rain came and it came hard. We had to change our plans a bit, which led us to seek shelter from the rain and shoot in some unconventional places – places like the subway and their local bodega. These turned into some of our favorite shots from the day because the pictures were so personal to their everyday lives in Brooklyn. We decided to meet up the next morning for a few sunrise shots on the Brooklyn bridge and it did not disappoint. We had an amazing time exploring their stomping grounds in the Big Apple. After we wrapped shooting, Caleb and I crossed the bridge into Manhattan, and wandered the eerily deserted streets. Apparently New Yorkers don’t get up before 10 am on Sunday mornings?! This was our first time in New York City! The food, the sights, the people were all amazing. Being the photo/video nerds that we are, we had to stop into B&H headquarters and it was heavenly. We got lost on the subway and dropped wayyy too much in uber fares, but all in all, it an incredible trip. We can’t wait to visit again!
James and Clara are getting married in KC on New Years Eve! We are soooo excited because we know they’re going to throw a killer party. Here’s a few images from our time together in Brooklyn. <3
